Silicone granulomas following free silicone gluteal augmentation
Gallium-67 citrate has long been used for imaging of infection and inflammation. Although gallium-67 uptake due to silicone implants and silicone injections has been previously reported in the literature, very few cases are documented. We report a case of increased gallium-67 uptake in the buttocks in a patient who previously received silicone injections in the buttocks, to reemphasize silicone...
متن کاملInadvertent application of silicone foam elastomer catalyst to the eye.
Silicone foam elastomer is used extensively to treat granulating wounds. A case is presented in which the catalyst to the polymer was inadvertently applied to the eye. This produced conjunctival and corneal injury, which was slow to heal and resistant to conventional treatment. This form of injury has not previously been described.

The illicit use of injectable silicone for cosmetic purposes in the breast has persisted for over five decades without support of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)1 and is associated with local and systemic complications.1–3 The constellation of symptoms first described by Boo-Chai in 1969 as “silicone mastitis,”4 stems from an inflammatory reaction to silicone and consists of pain, discol...
متن کاملAn Optimal Cure Process to Minimize Residual Void and Optical Birefringence for a LED Silicone Encapsulant
Silicone resin has recently attracted great attention as a high-power Light Emitting Diode (LED) encapsulant material due to its good thermal stability and optical properties. In general, the abrupt curing reaction of the silicone resin for the LED encapsulant during the curing process induces reduction in the mechanical and optical properties of the LED product due to the generation of residua...
